Lower Back Pain

Your Back-Up Plan
Your Back-Up Plan
Nearly 50 million Americans suffer from some sort of chronic pain.
Pain is a great indicator that something is out of balance. When we do not pay attention to our body's signals, pain motivates us to pay better attention.
Eighty percent of Americans will be seriously affected by lower back pain at some point during their lives. Having a preventative back care plan in place is good medicine.
Your back takes daily abuse from prolonged sitting at your desk, in your car, standing for long periods and strenuous exercise.
In 1994, my own personal healing crisis with a lower back injury brought me to experience Hellerwork, which literally changed my life. I was a massage therapist and fitness instructor with a thriving practice and was suddenly immobilized and disabled by the pain I could not work.
I was so depressed, I returned to my childhood home to rest and recuperate.
Not sure that my life would ever turn around, I visited a dear friend for some sessions of Hellerwork Structural Integration. During that process, I learned a great appreciation for my health and wellness and realized the irony is that none of us are immune to the distress of dis-ease. I also learned to live within a narrow margin, diminishing demands on myself which was quite challenging as I was a very active individual, a former professional dancer and athlete. Within 8 weeks, I was dramatically improving and steadily gaining relief from the pain of my injury.
Not entirely recovered but very optimistic as I was regaining strength and flexibility, I immediately enrolled in the Hellerwork professional training to vocationally rehabilitate myself. During the intensive training, Joseph Heller encouraged me to make healing my back issues the focal point of my training. To this current day, I am pain free. This process was truly miraculous and I was determined to be very effective in my work and bring this potential for deep healing to others.

Trauma Release Technique
for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome &
Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI)
"Hellerwork practitioners are skilled in teaching clients about making effective changes in how the body is used, how to avoid future soft tissue injury by using the body in a structurally balanced way. In addition to being the best form of myofascial release available (in my opinion), it can also be some of the most effective ergonomic education as well. . . I saw the need to create a continuing education program for Hellerworkers so they could help more people around the country with their RSI injuries . . . They would be a great place to start if you choose Hellerwork is a great place to start as a form of treatment for your RSI."
